I Have Always Wondered #2

"Walk the Line" was showing on ETC 2nd Avenue over the weekend. Now let's see, there has been a movie about Johnny Cash, Ray Charles, Jerry Lee Lewis, Ritchie Valens, Buddy Holly, Jim Morrison, I know they're making a film about Janis Joplin, and I've seen three movies about The Beatles.

How come there has never been a movie about Elvis Presley?

Is it a licensing or movie rights thing? There's not even a rumor about a film being made about the King, how come? I'm sure a lot of people would go and pay money to watch a movie about the life of Elvis Aaron Presley.

Elvis Presley has made a number of appearances in other films though. He was in the Johnny Cash biopic, played by singer-songwriter and actor Tyler Hilton. He appeared as one of the temporary tenants in the Gump house in "Forrest Gump". He was played by Val Kilmer in Quentin Tarantino's "True Romance". There was also a Twilight Zone episode about him, but a full on biopic has yet to be made.

Makes me wonder...

If ever a film was to be made about Elvis Presley, who would you cast as the King of Rock 'N' Roll?

Hey, maybe that's the reason why. Maybe the right actor with the same charisma as Elvis Presley hasn't come along yet.

We'll just have to wait and see.
